Our school prepares students to provide basic dental care, which includes dental cleanings, routine fillings and extractions. Students learn how to teach the prevention of dental disease and apply the latest techniques in dental care. They become familiar with Aboriginal culture and values, and in their second year, have an opportunity to work and live in First Nations and Inuit communities for an 8-week period. Our school accepts approximately 15 to 20 new students each September. We seek highly motivated students who not only want a career in health, but also want to live and work in First Nations and Inuit communities. |  | "NEW" THE FIRST NATIONS UNIVERSITY OF CANADA - NATIONAL SCHOOL OF DENTAL THERAPY HAS BEEN ADVISED THE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR THIS PROGRAM WILL CEASE AS OF MARCH 31, 2011. AS OF MAY 2010 ALTERNATE FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE DENTAL THERAPY TRAINING HAS NOT YET BEEN SECURED. WITH NO FUNDING IN PLACE TO CONTINUE PAST MARCH 31, 2011 THERE WILL BE NO YEAR ONE STUDENT INTAKE IN SEPTEMBER 2010. |
