Culture is the heart and soul of a nation. Language conveys culture. Art documents culture.

The history of the First Nations and Inuit peoples of North and South America is hundreds of thousands of years old. This history was recorded through the arts and languages.

The First Nations University of Canada’s Department of Indian Fine Arts teaches the history of Indian art, proud of the people who created this history.

The department not only teaches the history of Indian art, it also teachs modern art and art techniques used. The department believes, "Today's First Nations artists must learn to use the tools of modern society and have the heart of the past."

A degree in Indian Fine Arts is for the individual who has a strong commitment to the arts and First Nations culture.
