The First Nations University of Canada’s Department of Finance administers and directs all First Nations University of Canada financial services:

 

  • Accounting services (Operating Fund, Capital Fund, Trust & Endowments, Special Projects, Research Grants & Other Projects, Investments)
  • Business services (Accounts Receivable, Student Accounts, Collections)
  • Payment services (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Employee Claims, Central Registry, Purchasing)

We support the mission of the First Nations University of Canada by:

  • Establishing accounting standards and procedures for the university
  • Managing resources according to sound commercial practices
  • Ensuring the timely collection of revenues produced by various activities of the university and recapturing expenses, where appropriate, according to the terms of the contracts and grants
  • Arranging payment to suppliers
  • Ensuring payment to faculty and staff on a timely and accurate basis
  • Providing department heads and managers with the appropriate tools and training to best manage their financial resources
  • Continuously monitoring established practices and procedures are followed
  • Providing the various faculties and services of the university with the necessary accounting and financial support to ensure that they are able to realize their mission of service, research or educational goals
  • Reporting on the university’s use of financial resources in a manner which addresses the particular demands of interested parties and demonstrates the responsibility of the university
