Collection

The First Nations University of Canada has three
campuses and three unique library collections.
Each library builds their collection based on the
academic disciplines taught at each campus.
The Regina Campus Library focuses on the Indigenous
Peoples of the North, South and Central America;
including Indigenous Studies, Communications,
Business and Administration, Education, Fine Arts,
Science, Health, and Alcohol and Substance Abuse.

Eleanor Brass Collection

The collection was donated to the Saskatchewan
Indian Federated College in 1997.  Its current
home is in the Regina Campus Library of the
First Nations University of Canada.

The collection consists of (but is not limited to):
· Conference agendas
· Personal letters
· Magazine articles
· Newspaper articles
· Cultural stories
· Photos and pamphlets

Indian History Film Project

“The original intent of the Indian history film
project, which was funded by the Devonian Institute,
was to conduct oral interviews with First Nations
elders from across Canada, and to develop a movie
or TV series portraying Canadian history from a
First Nations perspective. The project leaders
were Christine Welsh and Tony Snowsill.

The project evolved over time, and eventually it
was decided to access libraries and archives across
the country for taped interviews of First Nations
elders. The interviews were copied and sent to CPRC,
where they were transcribed and indexed.
The result is a collection of approximately 1,100
interviews - unique by any measure - with
accompanying indices (subject and proper name).”

The IHFP is available in hardcopy in the FNUniv Library and online here.

RG 10 microfiche files

The documentation found in RG 10 refers to
the historical records created by the Department
of Indian Affairs and Northern Development,
and its predecessors. The records include files,
correspondence, letters, and transcripts
on all aspects of Indian administration for both
headquarters and the filed offices. The records are
primary sources of original, unpublished material.

The Indian Affairs Program of the Department of
Indian Affairs and Northern Development includes
the management of Indian reserves and lands,
trust funds, education, and agriculture. This
administration has been carried out through a
hierarchical structure of band, district,
and regional offices across Canada.

The Regina campus library houses a collection
of RG 10 (Indian Affairs) records on microfiche.
