Library Services - You may borrow library materials from the U of R Library and affiliated colleges
- You may expect library instruction and research assistance
- You may request Inter-Library Loan (ILL) for library materials not available from the U of R and affiliated colleges
Loan Period - Loan period for students is 28 days; loan period is one semester for sessionals
- Reserve materials, reference materials and journals do not circulate
- You are responsible for ensuring that library material is returned promptly and in the same condition as when received
To Request Library Materials - Contact the library by phone, fax or in person
- Provide your name and student ID number
- Describe the nature of your library request by identifying specific materials and by providing a precise description of the subject matter
Photo Identification Cards - Students, faculty and staff are required to present a validated photo identification card for the purpose of borrowing library materials or for requesting access to other library services
- Lost or stolen photo identification cards should be immediately reported to library staff to protect against unauthorized borrowing
- There is a fee for replacing lost, stolen or damaged library cards
Placing Holds on Library Materials - If an item in the library is not available for immediate loan, the library staff can place a hold on the item for you
- Please call the library to inquire if the item has arrived
Overdue Items - Fines will be charged for items returned late. Fines accumulate daily:
- General collections ~ $0.50/day to a maximum of $16.00
- Reserve materials ~ $0.50/day to a maximum of $16.00
- Recalled materials ~ $3.00/day after recall deadline
- When accumulated fines and charges reach the $16.00 maximum, your borrowing privileges will be suspended
Replacement Cost for Damaged or Lost Materials - You are responsible for the cost of replacement of library materials. If you lose a library item, a fine of $16.00 plus a replacement charge of $50.00 per item will be automatically charged to your patron record
- If damaged or lost material is out-of-print, the replacement cost will be market price or best estimate of the library item
- Your borrowing privileges will be suspended until the lost item is paid for or returned to the library
- Refunds will be made if the lost item is returned within six months of payment
|  | Photocopy Services at Northern Campus Library - Students have access to a pay per use photocopier in the Library located in Room B-1 (Basement Level)
- The photocopier accepts any type of coins, except pennies, and charges 0.10 cents per copy
- Photocopy cards are available in the library for purchase
Inter-Library Loan (ILL) from the U of R’s UREAD Services - You may request ILL service for journal articles if they are electronically unavailable from the U of R Databases by filling out the ILL (Inter-Library Loan) Request form found on the U of R’s WebVoyage home page
- You must provide complete bibliographic information (i.e: author, title or article, name of journal, volume & issue number of journal, year of publication, and page numbers)
Delivery of Materials for Off-Campus Students - Library materials will be sent to the student's mailing address
- The library will assume responsibility for postage and courier services
Library Hours - Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and remains open during the lunch hour
- The library is also open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm
