Our Logo

On June 21, 2003, the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College officially changed its name to the First Nations University of Canada.

As the First Nations University of Canada, we decided to keep, but enhance the logo of the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College by placing our new name at the top of the logo. The SIFC acronym remains in the centre circle to let our public know about our history as a university.

The five feathers of our logo represent the First Nations tribal groups of Saskatchewan: Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Dene and Assiniboine. The circle represents the unending process of education that takes place throughout our lifetime. The chief’s head represents the university’s membership in the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations’ family of institutions.
